The highway between Smithers and Tatogga Lake is amazing. The coastal mountains to your left the plateau to your right is gorgeous. Fireweed, daisies, buttercups and clover cover the side of the highway. With the little bit of smoke creeping down the mountains the contrast between ranges was simply stunning.

Tatogga Lake was really cool. We met John, the proprietor, and his son Sean who served us a great dinner (I don't do food pics but it was good). Had a tempeh veggie burger which was wonderful. I think I could spend weeks kayaking Tatogga Lake and the other lakes in the chain, unfortunately we only had the one night.
We stopped at Jade City, hello the sign said free coffee. Cute little shop, neat to see the wet saws in action.
The teller recommended we hit Boya Lake for lunch and swimming so we did. Green/blue waters and a lovely beach but with the wind warning it was too chilly for swimming. Carnivorous fish were completely uninterested in our Cobbs buns.....so we ate them instead.
Hopped into the Yukon through Watson Lake and back into BC.
Got camp and soak at Liard Hotsprings.....oh yes, this is the best camping on earth. Squirrels had a great time taunting Cody. He was unappreciative of our long soaking time away from him. We got to have a campfire.....with a high risk, wind warning in effect and a local forest fire limiting visibility on the highway. It was a bit ridiculous (two twigs made a solid 12" fire) but hey, when in Fort Nelson fire district, don't question it, just eat smores.

After this we had some issues finding BC rec sites. Seems like BC forgot to post signage for Swan Lake, so we hit Teslin Lake instead, where there was free firewood, no burn bans.....and no campsite registration.....which was odd. Cody found a great patch of grass and took on squirrels in "his backyard" until a wasp sting him......then the fun was over.
Atlin is a cool little community (think Pemberton in the middle of nowhere). Great coffee, wicked view over the lake, and friendly people.

Lol oh emma
