Back on the road!

I now own two spanking new all season tires.....and a costco membership. I would also like to thank the Express Lube in Anchorage for doing the tire swap, and listening to our long waylaid adventure story. They are fantastic, working longer hours and on Sunday! You guys rock!

H2Oasis is Anchorage's wicked pirate themed indoor water park. We had missed it on the way through the first time (thank you Lonely Planet for the out-of-date closing info) but decided this rainy day was perfect for it before jumping back into our travel plans. So glad we did. The wave pool may have been out of order but the slides (in particular the double rafting rollercoaster), river and adult hot tub (I had it all to myself) more than made up for it.
Video to come

We drove from Anchorage down a very windy and rainy Turnagain Arm to the Kenai Peninsula and Seward. We made camp at Miller's Landing and reorganized the car (stowing the spare back in its place under......everything). The wind and rain weren't conducive to kayaking, unfortunately. The drive back through misty Seward highway was gorgeous. I wish we had more time to explore the coast and the rest of the peninsula. With a three week trip you either get to see Alaska or experience a small part of it, you can't do both.

We drove most of the day, through dusk and turned off on the Taylor Highway just as night settled in. The pull out was dark as we fell asleep but we woke to wide views of rolling hills. We headed off to Chicken. A crazy little town with a population of 40-50 people in the summer and about 7 in the winter. The highway is closed as soon as the snow sets in. This was our last stop in Alaska, we are officially making our way home now.
